Hans G. Bergmann turned his passion for wine into a part-time job while he was still at school and university. After graduating and publishing a book on the management of customer expectations in 2002, he started as a consultant with Accenture and chose a career in the automotive sector (BMW) and switched into FMCG industry (Nestlé), before he decided to come back to his passion and roots in his early 30ies: the business graduate and WSET Educator & Sommelier returned to the world of wine in 2008 and had several significant achievements as EMEASA Channel Director Fine Wine for Constellation and Accolade Wines (now Vinarchy). He was a Director of Accolades’ business unit to be rewarded with a Meininger Award in 2015 for the “Best International Wine Business”. In 2021, he changed sides from production & sales into retailer & buying and since then is Head of the Wine Assortment Management at SPAR & INTERSPAR Austria and corporate lead also for Italy, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia. Hans is also heading the INTERSPAR weinwelt, most recently awarded with the Meininger Award 2025 – the only person to receive this award twice.
